Over a thousand pounds worth of damage has been caused after Sandown and Shanklin Rugby and Football Club was once again struck by mindless vandals.
Images have been released by the club of a group of youths who were seen on the grounds around the time that the damage – estimated to be worth more than £1,000 – was inflicted.
The damage to the rugby club follows a spate of attacks on football clubs in South Wight at the weekend when property was both damaged and stolen at Rookley and Wroxall.
A spokesperson for Sandown & Shanklin Rugby Club said via Facebook:
“As a self-funded and volunteer-based Club, in uncertain times and a pandemic, it’s not ideal when a source of income is vandalised.
“If anyone can help identify, provide any information, or perhaps educate these individuals, that would be much appreciated.”
Anyone with any information about the identity of the individuals concerned or who may have any information about the vandalism of the ground is asked to contact the club contact via Facebook: [email protected]. Alternatively, information could be given to the police by phoning 101.

They look like the 3 bears to me.Not even old enough to buy the spray paint.
Utter lowlifes. I would say how would they like it if someone did that to their homes, but it’s probably already like it.
Locals must know who these scum are name and shame them ,then get the parents to pay for the damage
Mindless, why go out of your way to ruin self funded sports clubs like this? There is obviously a group of youths from the south wight area going out of there way to vandalise important grass roots sports clubs for fun.
I hope they are found and made to pay for the damage caused and alongside the reimbursement made to volunteer there time to work for the club to learn the hard work and dedication it takes to keep these grass roots sports establishments up and running.
No point just taking the money they need to learn a valuable lesson.
More likely bored tourists
There isn’t any hope really, is there? Catch them and then what….
I recognize the three individuals, they have been hanging around sandown railway station for about a week, don’t know where they live but I’ll be taking the dog out soon for a walk, I am no grass but I hate scum like these little s**ts!
you’re no grass so you condone what they are doing then.
No, I just don’t trust plod, I would follow them home to there hovels and confront the parent! X
Bet they wouldn’t have done it if the players were around. Little chicken s.. ts
Oh, but, but, they can’t *help* it. They mustn’t be punished. They need our help. They are our victims! They probably come from an “underprivileged” background. It is our sympathy and understanding they need, not condemnation. If we condemn them in any way then we should feel utterly ashamed of ourselves, and it would prove that *we* are not very nice people. Well, let’s face it, that is the likely reality in today’s Britain, where the apologist do gooders are everywhere.
Look like Chavs to me!
Educate them? I think the players should offer them a training game.
