The planned demolition of Thompson House on the outskirts of Newport could be halted, if plans by an Isle of Wight business to purchase the empty site progress.
Random-Rooms is currently researching the possibility of submitting a bid to purchase Thompson House at Gatcombe.
Every year Random-Rooms see thousands of escapees experience the puzzle-solving fun its Newport-based attraction on Chain Lane, where it has operated for the past 6 years.
Now, the business says that it is interested in the potential of purchasing a second site, namely Thompson House. Those behind the escape room experience say they have come up with some amazing ideas for new experiences.
A spokesperson for Random-Rooms says:
“Adding more trees (rather than cutting any down to build housing), hedgerows and wild flowers to the site will help keep this rural site beautiful, provide privacy for neighbours and create an interesting and mysterious building shrouded in nature. Parts of the existing sprawl of car parking would be removed and re-natured. We feel it would be vital to keep the rural feel of the site and not create any additional impact for nearby buildings or environments.
“A second site could also see Random-Rooms providing job opportunities.
“It will be a serious challenge for us to compete with residential developers but we like a challenge and are prepared to do all we can to make our crazy plans a reality so we can offer you even more exciting escape room experiences”.

Sounds great, I hope this works out/goes ahead, much better idea than demolition and housing.
