Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal will visit the Isle of Wight today (Tuesday) – and will return again at the end of next week.
Princess Anne, who is a regular visitor to the Island, will be carrying out a number of engagements later on.
As patron of UKSA in Cowes, she will officially open a new 136-bed accommodation facility. Her last visit to the Arctic Road-based youth charity was in October 2020.
Mountbatten will be welcoming Her Royal Highness to their hospice at Halberry Lane in Newport, where the hospice’s 45th anniversary will be marked. Princess Anne will be given a tour and meet staff, volunteers, patients and their families.
Nigel Hartlet, CEO of Mountbatten, says:
“We are delighted to welcome HRH The Princess Royal back to Mountbatten.
“So much has changed since she last visited in 2013. Our services have grown and evolved and we are now looking after thousands more people across the Island.
“It gives us an opportunity to showcase what Mountbatten looks like today, supporting people in so many ways, 24/7.”
A visit will also be undertaken to Cheetah Marine’s boat building factory on the Esplanade in Ventnor.
Next Saturday (6th August), Princess Anne will return to the Isle of Wight to attend The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Sailing Review at Osborne House. It’s understood that a ‘motor past’ fleet review will take place in Osborne Bay from 11:00.

Why?
all these people do is exist off the backs of the rest of us. She will burn lots of fuel travelling here, wander round, eat food, chat and then clear off back to london, using more fuel.
when will the people of this country wake up and realise that this family are simply mugging everyone off.
the sycophantic fawning over one family is a sad reflection of the state of some peoples lives.
whilst everyone else struggles to pay bills and buy food, these leeches are taking your money, to live their pampered lives on
Do you really think a President would cost us less? Just think how big the entourage would be if the likes of a British Trump were to live in Buckingham Palace
its not about costing less- it is about our society continually talking about inclusivity and equality, yet here we have a family holding onto these jobs, by virtue of being born into a particular family and no one else getting the chance to hold those positions.
how can our society even be considered as equal, when one family is treated completely differently to everyone else, is afforded police protection that others do not get, are permitted to pollute with impunity because of jetting around at public expense and are largely immune from prosecution- the list goes on.
they have no competition for their jobs, are not subject to term limits and therefore are complacent and greedy.
@Grumpy grannie Just because the americans use a president does not mean we have too. If your ‘royal’ family are so good then put it to a vote. The US president has powers they can abuse, nothing stopping us having an elected ‘royal’ family with no powers, just a head of state. BTW, the queen has responsibility to the people to prevent parliament from over reaching it’s powers, she has, consistently failed her people. She had the power to stop thatchers poll tax, she stood by and let it happen. Almost brought the country to revolution. I know, I was there at Trafalgar square.
Totally agree, you don’t have to look to far back in the history books to know they’re all decendants of murderous tyrannical dictators not to mention the inbreeding.
Out-dated, out-grown and completely out of touch with reality. A referendum to abolish the monarchy is long overdue.
correct – british royal family changed their name to windsor because of anti german sentiment…before being windsor they were sax-coburg-gotha
The name Saxe-Coburg-Gotha first came to the British Royal Family in 1840 with the marriage of Victoria to Prince Albert, son of Ernst, Duke of Saxe-Coburg & Gotha.
they and their family have a lot to answer for regarding the first world war and a lot of the worlds mess since.
Spot on again ‘isle of wighter’. If George V and Tzar Nicholas II included cousin ‘Willy’ into their private inner circle, then the Great War may never of happened. As it was, millions of ordinary tax paying individuals sacrificed their lives for the sake of fueding Royal dynasties.
Miserable little marxist. Go and cuddle your Corbyn comfort blanket.
really old school – perhaps you need an education – we are in a digital age where equality and fairness are the drivers of policy and society – this out of date institution, where no one is allowed to challenge them and they are not subjected to the same rules as the rest of us have no place in it.
corybn and the rest of the woke do gooders were and are no better, just at the other end of the scale.
they (royals) look down at you and refer to you as a commoner – you are deemed not worthy to move in their circles – perhaps you are happy with such discrimination and arrogance – however, the modern world isn’t
the age of monarchy is just about over – thankfully
Youd best piss off to russia if that’s the way you like things. Good luck old man.
Yes, 100% agree. The original oligarchs. Can’t have a democracy when there are over 800 unelected ‘lords’ in the second house.
I agree, all this pandering to the elite make me sick, as you said they don’t need to worry about the cost of food, bills etc. Can’t stand the so called royal family, not a one of them.
Interesting replies. The one main fact remains. The Princess Royal is a regular visitor to your island. That is amazing. Queen Victoria started it by having a holiday home there, and now the Princess Royal continues. It is a huge honour. For an island fourteen miles by seven, you are an amazing island.
Who is paying you ?
She does a wonderful job, probably. There is a rumour that she was once seen to break into a sweat while shaking someone’s hand (unlike her brother).
