A telephone cable has been brought down across the carriageway on the outskirts of Ryde this afternoon (Thursday).
A Skoda Fabia has collided head-on into a telegraph pole on Carters Road. This has resulted in a cable being snapped and hanging in the road.
The incident happened at just before 14:15.
The vehicle has since been moved from its crashed position, but is still causing an obstruction to the highway.
It’s unclear at this stage if the road will be closed to allow for the cable to be removed and repaired.
Traffic is busy in the area due to the closure of Upton Road for emergency works.

How dare you. That was me driving. I have been driving 23 years and NEVER had a single accident. Your foul comment is disgraceful. And that car belong to my deceased AUNT who did die of cancer. And no, I NEVER drink EVER, I was not on my phone, nor was I speeding – even the kind man who witnessed it said that several times. Not that I should have to explain to you. I’m a middle aged woman with small children (luckily not in the car) with a respectable job that I would lose if I was dangerously driving. And yes, you may not have used those words, but you implied it.
