UPDATED: Island Roads have closed the main road into Chale at the request of Police this afternoon (Wednesday) as a result of a fuel tanker coming off the road.
The closure on Appleford Road has been put in place to allow for the recovery of the medium sized vehicle, which has left the road on the left hand side and become stuck in a ditch.
The incident occurred at around 10:45 this morning.
D H Price are the recovery agents and are on scene.
Repairs to the carriageway and verge are also expected to be undertaken.
Motorists should divert via Niton and Blackgang.
UPDATE – The road has now re-opened to all traffic.
