Lemon drizzle, coffee and walnut, chocolate gateau, flapjacks, gingerbread, banana muffins! All these and many more delicious homemade items were for sale in the WI refreshment tent at the recent Royal Isle of Wight County Show. WI ladies from all over the Island baked cakes and helped throughout the weekend. The tables were piled high with tempting goodies, the tea urns were piping hot, with hundreds of customers turning out to At one point their were queues out of the marquee entrance with visitors keen to try some of the cakes for which the WI is famous. The group also provided a parent and baby tent, which was well-used over the weekend, a place where mums and dads with toddlers could just spend some quiet time, or feed and change their babies. All visitors went home happy and well-fed, even the large number of well-behaved dogs who enjoyed the homemade dog biscuits. A WI spokesperson has said:
“It was a very busy weekend but the WI ladies coped admirably and are already planning their next tasty bakes for future events.”

It is always the only tent selling lovely food at decent prices, all the others are just a rip off, so no wonder there were long queues. Thank you one and all for the lovely cakes.
