The driver of a MG has been lucky not to plunge into a river after colliding with metal railings in Carisbrooke tonight (Friday).
Police are on scene at Carisbrooke High Street where a MG ZS has collided with railings lining the carriageway, which prevent vehicles from falling into the Lukely Brook.
The silver vehicle has been left with heavy front end damage, including a wheel forced at a 90 degree angle.
The incident happened shortly before 21:20 and has seen the Island’s Joint Operations Unit respond, including a local dog unit.
It’s unclear at this stage as to whether or not the driver of the MG has been located and whether or not any offences have been identified.
The road is temporarily blocked whilst recovery of the vehicle takes place.
