Shoppers at Morrisons supermarket in Lake have been evacuated due to a suspected refrigerant leak.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are on scene having been alerted to the incident at around 11:40.
2 firefighters from Shanklin, equipped with breathing apparatus, have entered the supermarket off Newport Road to investigate the situation.
A cordon has been erected and shoppers are being turned away. Staff have also been evacuated.
A refrigeration engineer has been called to the store to isolate the effected unit with a view to getting the store re-opened as safely and as quickly as possible.
Done my shopping in there at 9.30am this morning, just in time by the sound of things..
Hope they get it sorted because we don’t want some foods to go to waste..
