Ryde Harriers put in an excellent performance at the MCC Promotions Sandown to Shanklin Seafront 10km on Sunday (14th September), with three athletes finishing inside the top 10 and two securing podium places.
Masters 50 runner Stuart McDonald was the standout for the club, clocking 38:03 to take 3rd overall behind race winner Chris Till and Gordon Reid. McDonald pushed hard into the wind on the opening stretch and held his place strongly on the return leg to claim a well-deserved podium spot.
Clubmate Trevor McAlister also impressed, finishing 7th overall in 39:52, while Kate Holbrook delivered another strong run for the women’s squad. Holbrook crossed the line in 49:37 to take 3rd place in the women’s race, cementing Ryde Harriers’ presence on both the men’s and women’s podiums.
Further down the field, Roger Merry recorded 53:12 and Lucy DeVille completed the route in 1:05:07.
The breezy conditions along the coastal stretch from Yaverland to the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary made for a challenging race, but the Harriers’ consistency saw them feature prominently across the results.
