STRANDED JET SKIERS RESCUED FROM THE NEEDLES LIGHTHOUSE

Freshwater Independent Lifeboat and The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team assisted 4 people who got into difficulties at The Needles Lighthouse this afternoon (Sunday).

The rescue resources were tasked at 15:00 after 1 of 2 jet skis struck an object, causing it to take on water and throw the 2 riders into the sea.

The duo managed to climb up onto rocks and got the jet ski onto dry land before the volunteer lifeboat crew arrived on scene.

All casualties, plus 1 jet ski, were returned to Freshwater Bay where Coastguard Rescue Officers from The Needles administered first aid to 1 of the casualties for a cut to her leg.

The other jet ski was craned aboard a Border Force Vessel for onward transportation to Cowes.

The 4 jet skiers have made their own way back to the mainland via ferry.
