In an evening of outstanding talent and creativity, Stenbury Federation competed against nine schools from across Hampshire and two from Hertfordshire last night (Wednesday) in the 2015 Be Your Best Southern J Rock Final presented by Ansvar Insurance.
Stenbury Federation – made up of Wroxall Primary, Godshill Primary and Chillerton & Rookley Primary – automatically qualified through to the Final after placing first on Portsmouth J Rock Day Two on 28th March with ‘Keeping Hope Afloat.’
Stenbury’s performance last night shone from the stage in a spectacular display of colour and excitement as they entertained the audience with their apt revival of Noah’s Ark. Stunning costumes and elaborate makeup designs captured the animals exceptionally and the energy exuded by every single student really allowed the characters to radiate from the stage.
Particularly memorable was the scene of the flood which produced a dynamic torrent of water to surge across the stage. A dramatic lighting design also worked harmoniously with the choreography which, swerving through the music’s beats and spinning inside its thrilling clash of drums, created an incredible climax.
Although Stenbury didn’t place in the top 5, the entry received the Janome Award for Excellence for Costuming Character; the Hampshire Drug and Alcohol Action Team Award of Excellence for Visual Enhancement and the Be Your Best Foundation Award for Student Leadership.
