St Catherine’s School in Ventnor has celebrated a summer of successful fundraising events, with the local community and supporters helping to raise thousands of pounds for the specialist school.
In June, the school hosted its annual Summer Fair on the school field. Fun stalls were run by both students and staff, and the Ventnor community turned out in support, helping the event to raise more than £2,000.
The fundraising continued with the introduction of the Ethel Dares Wing Walk at Sandown Airport. Participants took to the skies aboard the iconic Boeing Stearman Biplane. A team from Howdens Insurance – Richard, Luca, Caleb and Olly – joined supporters Marc, Clare, Jerome, Kalena, Penny, Leigh and Georgina, collectively raising over £8,000.
St Catherine’s also joined the Lashings event at Ventnor Cricket Club. The fundraising team – Susan, Tanya and Emily – spent a hot summer’s day selling raffle tickets, bringing in over £1,000.
The summer concluded with a 12,000ft skydive organised by Skydive Sandown. Thirteen fundraisers, including Tanya, Jason, Carly, Kat, Ella, Brooke, Serena, Robert and a team from Ventnor seafront’s Golden Sands – Phoebe, Charlie and Jacob – took the plunge, raising an impressive amount for the school.
St Catherine’s is now looking ahead to its 2026 fundraising challenges, which include an abseil, wing walk and skydive.
