Volunteers are being sought to join a community speed watch group in Cowes tomorrow (Tuesday).
A recruitment event is being held on Baring Road in the town at the junction with Crossfield Avenue between 14:00 and 15:30. It is hoped those living in the community will be willing to offer their time to the safety initiative, which is managed by Hampshire Constabulary.
The scheme, which already takes place in other locations across the Island, allows volunteers to assist Police in monitoring traffic speeds using equipment supplied. All the information collected is then stored in a database with letters being sent to the car’s owner if they are caught exceeding the speed limit.
