A host of seaside venues have teamed up to make this year’s Round the Island Race a truly Islandwide experience.
The Island Sailing Club, which organises the race, has partnered with 4 locations to become official spectator venues on Saturday 11th July.
The Albion Hotel in Freshwater, The Terrace in Ventnor, Bembridge Coast Hotel and The Dell in Ryde will all run special offers on race day, giving guests the chance to watch it in style from some of the best vantage points.
A bigger Race Village on Cowes Parade will also be open during the race weekend.
Dave Atkinson, Race Director, said:
“We’ve always believed the Round the Island Race is very much an occasion for the entire island, and we want as many people as possible to be part of it.
“We’re delighted these four venues will join us to offer spectators an opportunity to enjoy the race at some of the best locations.
“We’ll be announcing more details about our plans and offers for race day over the coming weeks.”
More than 500 boats have already signed up and it’s anticipated over 1,000 will be taking their place on the start line in July.
The fleet start at the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes and circumnavigate the Isle of Wight in an anti-clockwise direction, before arriving back in Cowes for the finish.
The 50-nautical mile race is one of the largest of its kind in the world, pitting world-renowned sailors against families and first-time racers.
For those visiting the Island to watch the race, a special discount will also be available with Red Funnel.

Norton Grange is a nice spot too.
I usually start from Norton and move on to Freshwater
and venture back to Culver Down.
My favourite island event, cannot wait.
The island should make better use of the sea
all year round like Devon does.
You can get boats from place to place.

That is a good idea. The IW should make more use of the sea and not leave it to Cowes week or a few regattas. Fort Victoria country park is also a good view spot for Round the Island
