The smell of burning coming from electrics at a care home in Ryde has led to a callout for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service this afternoon (Tuesday).
3 appliances from Ryde and Newport, as well as the Incident Command Unit from Newport, were mobilised to High Park Road at just before 13:00.
Thankfully, no fire has been identified. However, a smell of burning has been traced to electrics.
A ventilation fan is now being used to rid the lingering smell.
With the situation under control, appliances from Newport have been stood down en-route to the incident and Ryde’s retained appliance is returning to station.

A burning smell comes from burning, or sonething very close to it. Walking away and fanning the fumes doesn’t sound like much of an answer.
Thank goodness the professional folk know what to do , better safe than sorry ….
