A concerned dog walker is warning others to be vigilant when visiting Appley Park in Ryde following the discovery of smashed bottles dug into the ground.
The gentleman, who doesn’t wish to be named, was walking his dog in the popular seaside park this morning (Thursday) when he came across pieces of smashed glass.
Upon closer inspection he found half a bottle partially buried in the ground, posing a danger to animals and anyone unfortunate enough to walk over it. Just a short distance away was another smashed bottle, also buried into the ground.
Thankfully, both bottles have since been dug out and removed from the area and the Isle of Wight Council informed of the discovery.
It remains unclear at this point if the bottles were smashed deliberately to cause injury, or whether a grass mower caused the damage last week. But either way it is evident that the bottles were dug into the ground on purpose.
