UPDATED: The main road between Shanklin and Ventnor has been closed this afternoon (Friday) due to a small landslide.
A section of chalk from within the old chalk pit has fallen out into the road.
Island Roads have closed the road in both directions and are working to clear the obstruction.
Light traffic is able to divert via Bonchurch, but all heavy traffic is being directed to Ventnor via Whiteley Bank.
Southern Vectis Route 3 buses will divert via Shanklin/Whiteley Bank/Wroxall/Trinity Church until further notice.
UPDATE @ 20:05 – Leeson road has now re-opened in both directions.
