The death of a man at a flat in Shanklin is being treated as unexplained by Police, with detectives continuing their investigations to establish how he died. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary was alerted to concerns for the welfare of a man at an address on Scinde Cresecent, off North Road, at 09:13 yesterday morning (Wednesday). Officers arrived shortly before 11:00 and discovered the lifeless body of a male in his 40s inside a garden flat. The entire street was cordoned off – as first reported by Island Echo – as an investigation was launched and initial on-scene examinations were conducted, with concerns raised over how the man may have died. The body was removed by undertakers last night. Detectives wearing forensic suits have been seen coming and going from the property at the centre of the incident, which remains cordoned off this morning. Police are expected to remain on scene throughout the day.
A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that the death is being treated as unexplained at this time. Enquiries are still ongoing to establish the wider circumstances. The man’s next of kin have been informed. No arrests have been made.
