UPDATED: A land and sea search is underway in Cowes this morning (Friday) following the discovery of a pile of clothes.
Newport Coastguard team are currently conducting a shoreline search between Cowes and Gurnard over fears that a person may be in difficulty.
Meanwhile, Cowes RNLI lifeboat is conducting a search along the Western Solent between Cowes and Newtown having launched at just gone 10:05.
Cowes Harbour’s launch is also searching eastwards to Osborne Bay.
UPDATE @ 12:30 – Emergency teams have failed to locate anything and therefore the search has been called off.
The pile of men’s clothes was discovered at Egypt Point.
