The search for a missing pensioner in his 70s is continuing in the West Wight this morning (Friday).
As first reported by Island Echo, a large scale search operation was launched at around 20:00 last night when a Skoda Fabia was discovered in a car park overlooking the cliffs at Freshwater Bay.
Police, Needles Coastguard Rescue Team, Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team, WightSAR, Freshwater Lifeboat, Yarmouth RNLI, NPAS Bournemouth and Coastguard Rescue 175 helicopter were all involved in searching the area last night. With nothing found, the efforts were suspended for the night shortly before midnight.
Freshwater Independent Lifeboat and Coastguard Rescue Teams have been out once again this morning in a bid to locate the individual, who has not been named by Police.

Yes, let’s hope this gentlemen is found safe and well. In response to your comment Mary regarding the NHS App, this does not protect anyone who has downloaded it onto their phone. It is just an application (program) it has no super powers of protection for anyone of any age. It is s piece of software for reporting if you feel unwell and think you have COVID 19, you then enter your symptoms, address and a home testing kit will be sent out. The sample is then posted in the pre-paid envelope to the testing facility. If the person’s test is positive, a text notification will be sent to all the people the positive person had been in contact with (Bluetooth) technology takes care of this. These people who receive a text should then go and get tested themselves. Hope this helps
