A flood alert for the Isle of Wight coast has been extended by the Environment Agency, with warnings that this morning’s (Tuesday’s) tide will be higher than normal due to unsettled weather.
The adverse conditions, including strong South Westerly Force 6 winds, will result in large waves and a forecast tide at 10:45 of 4.77 metres.
For 1 hour on either side of high water, very minor impact flooding will affect some seafront roads, esplanades and car parks across the Island.
Water will be high up slipways in Cowes, affecting Medina Road and the floating bridge. The tide may rise to be only 0.1m below the top of front door steps. As a precautionary measure, and if you have it, the Environment Agency recommends that flood protection is installed at Medina Road 1 hour before high tide.
In East Cowes, seawater forced up through drains may cause very minor impacts to the road at Albany Road.
After this tide, and for the rest of the week, tide levels are reducing and no further impacts are expected.

By unsettled weather, do they mean full moon ?
no, duh
they mean it will be higher (than it usually is because of the full moon) because of the unsettled weather. (I think that’s what they said ??)
the moon’s effect on the tide is predictable and therefore no need to issue alerts,.. ‘cos it always does that
60 years ago, this kind of thing hardly ever happened. Like once every few years. Now its almost every week. I wonder how high the water has to get before the climate change deniers see the truth. Maybe when they are up to their necks?
Humans screwed it all up. It’s fact, get your head out of your bum and see the truth. And it’s too late. Your grandchildren have no future because you wanted cheap petrol. Well done.
I take it you don’t drive a car have a mobile phone or laptop/tablet ? I take it you don’t have a TV ? and I take it you don’t use gas or electricity to cook and heat your home ?
Always had floods and odd weather just that BBC and media reporting everything from around the world to scare us into this theory.
As gardener for decades I’ve been out in all sorts at odd times.Weathers not really any different.I remember my shed being blown down in the 70s and 1987 storm. Low Co2 levels then.
I’m sure communist Greta hasn’t lived long enough to notice.
Good luck with your doom cult.
Crikey, you do spout some nonsense on here, don’t you?
Are you honestly saying that you believe that in the mid 1960s (60 years ago) that the sea was never reaching the tops of beaches etc when it was stormy weather? Do you think they only built sea walls etc in the last few years?
If there had been a dramatic rise in sea levels over the past decade or so as you think happened, then half of the properties in lower Ryde would be under water by now, the same with properties on the sea front at Sandown, Shanklin and many other places. But, they aren’t. Go and take a look and rely on what your eyes are telling you not some dodgy ‘science’.
No we have been brain washed by rich politicians who want us to spend money on fuels so they get more money.we could of had less co2 levels years ago
Uneducated moron
Is it also because the island is sinking under the weight of more and more houses and people?
Also isostatic readjustment the north is rising up and south sinking still due to the ice age.
