Sandown Town Council has been working with local community groups to highlight heartcare projects in the town, including funding for a new resilience project and installing a new exercise trail in Los Altos Park.
Members of Line Dance IOW joined with Steve Read (IOW Defibrillators), Guy Fodop (NHS Mental Health) and Mayor Alex Lightfoot to promote the programme of healthy lifestyle activities at The Broadway Centre and the provision of defibrillators at the centre, and other locations in the town.
The plans for fitness facilities at Sandham Grounds were also discussed.
Town Mayor Alex Lightfoot said:
“Heartcare month provides an ideal opportunity to highlight how the community can make lifestyle changes recommended by the British Heart Foundation, and also contribute to the support available in the wider community”.
Steve Read added:
“With the support of the Town Council, defibrillators have been installed in Sandown, training provided to local groups, and learning CPR encouraged”.
In addition to the provision of defibrillators in the town, Sandown Town Council is also taking forward plans for a new exercise trails in Los Altos Park, an Multi-Use Games Area facility, lifeguards in the Summer and both maintaining and expanding the programme of activity at the Broadway Centre.
