Police are appealing for witnesses after a man and woman were seriously injured after being run over by a lorry in Southampton yesterday (Friday), with a Sandown man questioned over the collision.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is asking for individuals to come forward following the incident on Town Quay in Southampton, directly outside Red Funnel’s terminal, at just before 10:46.
It has been confirmed that a man in his 60s sustained life threatening injuries, with a woman – also in her 60s – suffering serious injuries.
Both remain in Southampton General Hospital.
Today (Saturday), Police have confirmed that a 69-year-old man from Sandown was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. He has since been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.
A spokesperson for the force has said:
