Appley Sand Park in Ryde has now re-opened for the 2025 season following a refresh by the Isle of Wight Council’s Park and Open Spaces team.
For over 25 years the popular sand park has been a unique place for children to play. It’s closed during the winter months with new sand being placed down each year ahead of the annual Spring opening.
The park – which has undergone a refresh – is now open for everyone to enjoy.
Huts, which have been in place for decades, have been removed and replaced with other play equipment. A new wooden rail has been erected too.
In 2022, councillors sitting on Ryde Town Council started talking about removing the sand to create a year-round attraction. But the idea received a lot of critical feedback and seemingly dropped.
