Ryde Inshore Rescue came to the aid of a 36ft yacht suffering with engine failure yesterday evening (Wednesday).
The voluntary organisation were paged to launch at 19:40 after the yacht – with two persons on board -alerted HM Coastguard that engine failure had occurred and in very light winds were unable to make any headway.
Ryde Rescue 1 was launched just 9 minutes later and located the yacht by 20:08 just to the East of Warner Buoy. A tow was established before taking the casualty yacht into Haslar Marina, Portsmouth.
Both boats arrived in Haslar at 21:30 and after making sure the yacht was securely tied up alongside the pontoon and all safety checks were made, Ryde Rescue 1 returned to base at Appley.
