Police cordoned off Ryde Pier in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday) whilst looking for ‘items’ in the sea.
According to Hampshire Constabulary, officers were carrying out a search for objects that were believed to be in the sea close to the pier structure. However, the force has not commented on what these items were.
The search is not thought to relate to any on-going incident or investigation.
A cordon was erected at the entrance to the pier and the Ryde Esplanade railway station whilst the search was carried out. The cordon remained in force at 07:00, but by 08:30 the scene had been lifted.

looks like old school bully’s on here.
In my experience “items” are not a lot of use without the “things” that are usually associated with them.
Maybe the ‘items’ were old school Wightlink contracts ‘accidentally’ ditched over the side. We don’t want those pesky documents washing up and adding to the forthcoming pension ‘problem’ do we?
