Byrnhill Grove residents in Ventnor were recently treated to an exclusive performance from an Isle of Wight resident who is soon to appear on Britain’s Got Talent.
The performance was held for 30 residents at Southern Housing Group’s residential care and sheltered scheme, Byrnhill Grove, as part of the Group’s commitment to providing care and support for its vulnerable residents.
Louisa Driscoll, who can sing a wide variety of genres ranging from opera, classical and country and western to 60s, jazz and modern day, made it through the audition process for Britain’s Got Talent and is waiting to hear if she will be on the live shows.
Naomi Somerville, the Care and Supporting Independence Manager at Southern Housing Group, said it was a real treat for the residents at Byrnhill Grove to have Louisa perform for them at their home:
“Louisa sang a mixture of old time and more modern music for the residents, and most of the audience joined in on the fun by singing along to the songs they knew.
“Events like these are important in ensuring the Group provides specialised care and support services as well as specialised accommodation on the Isle of Wight.
“We pride ourselves on a ‘home from home’ environment for people who can no longer care for themselves in their own homes.”
Grace Corbett, a resident at Byrnhill Grove said:
“The entertainment was excellent, Louisa was a lovely clear singer with real emotion. It was an enjoyable day for everyone and we hope that she comes back soon.”
At the request of the residents at Brynhill Grove, Louisa will be returning for a following performance in March.
