Two young fox cubs that were rescued on the Isle of Wight earlier this year have been released back into the wild after 3 months of rehabilitation and care.
Rupert was first rescued by Friends of the Animals (FOTA) at the beginning of June, suffering from a serious infected puncture wound and a fractured pelvis. Following initial treatment at The People’s Vet, wildlife carer Edward Albert provided daily medication, wound care and 6 weeks of strict cage rest to allow Rupert’s injuries to heal.
Once recovered, Rupert was introduced to another cub, Quinn, who had been found severely underweight and also rescued by FOTA. After being stabilised by vets, Quinn was placed into Edward’s care where the two foxes formed a close bond during their time in rehabilitation.
Over the course of the summer, both Rupert and Quinn grew into healthy, active young foxes. This month, following a final veterinary check, they were released together into a secure woodland site during the natural fox dispersal season.
