Red Funnel has announced it will be running a revised timetable on its hi-speed Red Jet service until at least Friday afternoon due to a mechanical issue with Red Jet 4 and the annual refit of Red Jet 6, leaving just 1 vessel to operate the route.
Earlier this week an issue was discovered with Red Jet 4’s port jet unit, resulting in the vessel being pulled from service. This has caused a headache for the cross-Solent operator, Red Funnel, as Red Jet 6 is already out of service for its annual refit.
Now, as a result of 2 of the 3 vessels being out of action, Red Jet 7 is to be solely used between now and Friday afternoon (10th February).
Leanna Lakes, Operations Director at Red Funnel, has said:
“The safety of our passengers and crew is always our priority, and following a regular routine safety inspection, it has been necessary to carry out a repair a to Red Jet 4’s port jet unit.
“As part of our ongoing maintenance programme, Red Jet 6 is currently out of service for her annual refit, with a planned return to service on Friday afternoon.
“We will therefore be operating a revised Red Jet timetable, exclusively running Red Jet 7 until the afternoon of Friday 10 February.
“We encourage customers to check our live service status on our website or our Red Funnel app prior to travelling. We sincerely apologise for this inconvenience and are working as quickly as we can to restore our full service. Our revised Red Jet timetable for the remainder this week will be:

UPDATE FRIDAY – Due to continuing works, the revised timetable is to continue into tomorrow – but Red Funnel expect the normal timetable to return on Sunday.
