Staffing issues mean that Red Funnel will be operating a 1-boat only service on its hi-speed Red Jet route tomorrow (Tuesday).
Just days before Christmas, at a time when many Islanders are heading to Southampton to shop and commuters are wrapping up their last days at work, there is significant disruption on the West Cowes to Southampton service.
Today, a number of vital crossings were cancelled as a result of staff shortages.
Now, cross-Solent operator Red Funnel has confirmed that due to the continued limited availability of crew, the Red Jet will be a 1-boat only service tomorrow (Tuesday).
A spokesperson has said:
“Legally we must ensure a certain number of trained staff on every sailing to ensure the safety of passengers.
“We apologise for any disruption to your journey”.
If they started treating there staff better perhaps they would keep staff disgusting how management treat there staff
It’s called ‘work’. So many Islanders do not seem to understand the job description…
They have the wimpiest staff ever!! Do they even check staff sickness levels?
You are always welcome to go and work there if you feel you are better at doing the job I am sure they would welcome you with open arms
That assumes you have the correct qualifications to do the job as the likes of the boats captain requires a masters ticket plus a pilots licence for Southampton water, even a lowly deck hand needs the correct qualifications.
