Red Funnel has announced that it has had to cancel 2 of its evening vehicle ferry sailings tonight (Thursday) due to an exhaust leak.
It has been confirmed that the 19:30 from Southampton and the 21:00 from East Cowes have been cancelled as a result of an exhaust leak on Red Osprey’s forward main engine.
The cross-Solent operator apologises for any inconvenience to your journey.
I wonder whose job it is to come up with these excuses – sorry, serious problems?
In other words, not enough bookings to make it worthwhile for us to run the crossing.
Knackered old boats. Well past their “sell by dates”. Look after the shareholders rather than the paying public. TIME TO INVEST.
These boats easily have a 40-45 year lifespan providing they are properly maintained and looked after. Rather than buying brand new boats that will invariably come with a catalogue of teething problems, why not overhaul the existing fleet and get them back upto the required standard?
Dear Red Funnell. As you may see from the comments below The good people of the Isle of Wight have a little trouble believing you. So why is this. An exhaust leak after all is a serious issue if it endangers the health of your work force. The problem is more deep routed than this. It now doesn’t matter what you say we just don’t believe you. We have heard it all before and ex staff members have told us you will cancel quiet journeys to save money. So please do us all a favour and just tell us which one is running and which one isnt. The sorry bit is not required.
