Police are in attendance at a rear-end shunt on Briddlesford Road this afternoon (Tuesday).
The incident occurred at around 15:00 and has seen at least 2 vehicles – including a VW Transport – collide on the busy road near its junction with Blacklands Lane.
The road remains open, with Police currently at the scene directing traffic.
Motorists are best advised to avoid the area.
UPDATE @ 16:30 – It has been confirmed that a 33-year-old man from Newport has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
He has been taken to Newport Police Station.
2 people have sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash, which has been confirmed as involving a total of 3 vehicles.
I blame the van driver….
Hardly as it was the van in the middle which was stationary behind the vehicle waiting to turn right

Permanent speed cameras are required on this DANGEROUS road.
The road is not dangerous, only drivers who do not drive with due care and attention,
If you think this road is dangerous you should not be driving
How would speed cameras stop drugged up or drink sodden scum putting other peoples lives at risk, if found guilty they should get a hefty prison sentence and banned for life.
The other day it was reported a drunk driver killed a care worker in a head on collision only weeks out of prison having killed someone else whilst drink driving.
Take away the drug drivers driving licence…….. for 3 years!

Taking away driving licence won’t stop them, most haven’t even got one or care insurance. They need to be tagged and report daily to a police station.
Actually should be automatic 10 year ban and fines starting at £1,000.00… similar to some other countries…. they are too soft over here.

Drug or drunk drivers need to be banned for min 3 years, and fined so heavily that they have to sell the vehicle to fund it.
The thing is is that these knuckle draggers have no morals, they will drive with no licence, they will drive with no tax, they will drive under the influence and laugh in the face of anyone that questions them. Sadly this blight on society are non rectifiable regardless of sanction.
