The Crown Inn pub in Shorwell remains on the market and now includes all fixtures and fittings as the owners look to make a quick sale.
Back in March, Island Echo reported that the 18th-century village pub had gone on the market.
A buyer is yet to come forward so the decision has been taken to now offer the leasehold at nil premium and including all fixtures and fittings.
Leisure property specialists Fleurets are currently marketing the leasehold of the historic pub, which offers 80 internal covers and 100 external covers in the side garden. In addition, there are also 2 onsite car parks.
Mike Benwell, current landlord of the Crown Inn said:
“The Crown Inn has always had a place in our hearts. When we were growing up we always visited the Crown Inn with our parents, grandparents and great grandparents and have such great memories.
“We decided to purchase the pub and in our first couple of years of ownership the pub was good to us. Unfortunately with Covid we have had to concentrate on our core pub portfolio so it’s now time for someone else to take the pub on. The Crown Inn is a perfect business for any aspiring owner managers or is big enough to work as a managed house.”
Shorwell is in the arse end of nowhere. Will never be profitable if you’re stuck paying for a mortgage, business loan and the brewery cartels.
Let’s face it, country pubs, unless in a rich area and have a large community are pretty much dead. Drinks are too expensive, food is too. If a pub is run well and respects people living around them, without causing noise and disturbance they will do well, if not then it will be eventually closed, no matter what excuse the owners give.
Well wight mouse does a roaring trade .always busy when i go.its still a far out pub.but agreed…shorwell ,conversion im afraid

1 pub charges £11 for a jkt potato with chilli !!!!!
I understand that wages food and utility bills have gone up , but those that would normally eat out regularly still have to find money for their own rising costs !!!!
So therefore eat out is a treat not a habit…..
Not a good time to go into hospitality !!!!!

How much does a plumber charge to fix a leaky tap??? Pubs have large overheads and costs involved to trade yet we complain about their prices however we still pay plumbers electricians ect £80 an hour.
