The Victoria Tavern pub in East Cowes is to close its doors for good in May, it has today (Tuesday) been announced. After 5 years, the current custodians have announced that they have decided with a ‘heavy heart’ to call it a day later in the year, taking to Facebook to share the sad news. Based on Clarence Road in the town, the public house was well known for its food featuring lots of locally sourced produce, local ales and for its live music events held every weekend. A post on the Victoria Tavern Facebook page has said:
“We are immensely proud of what we have achieved in our time here, creating one of the best community pubs around. “We would like to say a massive thank you to all our customers. Those local and from afar. Thank you for continuously showing your loyalty and support to our little pub. That is why we ask you to continue your support till the very end.”
The kitchen is to be closed in February with the premises to remain open until May. More details are to be announced in due course.
