Priory School in Whippingham received the generous donation of a piano earlier this week (Tuesday), but rather than arriving by the usual lorry or van, the instrument was delivered with pedal power.
Donated by local East Cowes resident, Mrs Lynch, the eco-friendly journey was made possible by local green cargo bike company Keert, who transported the piano across town to the school. The sight of a full-sized piano being towed behind a bicycle certainly turned heads, with motorists said to have looked on in disbelief.
Adding some extra manpower to the final leg of the journey were members of Ad Lib Theatre, who happened to be rehearsing on site and assisted with getting the piano into position.
The donation and unusual delivery method underline Priory School’s commitment to sustainability, with the piano now taking pride of place in the school’s Main Hall.
Matt from Keert, along with Mr Lynch, Head of Performing Arts, helped oversee the safe arrival of the instrument.

Great stuff, always enjoy seeing the cargo bikes out and about.
