20 powerboat teams from across the UK and Sweden will compete in a 60-mile Round the Island offshore powerboat race this Saturday (18th May). Crews will be competing in the opening round of the 2024 UKOPRA Offshore Championship. Although the start line and muster area will be off East Lepe Bouy (opposite Gurnard), the race is based out of Shamrock Quay in Southampton. The green flag will drop at around 12:30, with powerboats racing around the coast of the Isle of Wight. It’s said that the best vantage points will be at Yarmouth Pier, Fort Victoria, The Needles, St Catherine’s Lighthouse, Ryde Pier and Egypt Point. All the race details including teams competing can be found at the UKOPRA Official Race Website, www.ukopra.co.uk.
