A popular Mediterranean restaurant in Ryde has unexpectedly announced it has closed its doors permanently, citing ‘unforeseen circumstances’.
Crazy’s Taverna, located on the High Street, shared the news with customers on social media tonight (Sunday), confirming that the decision to shut was not taken lightly.
In their statement, the team expressed gratitude to their loyal customers who have supported the restaurant over the years. They also reassured anyone with advanced bookings that they will be contacted directly.
Customers who have purchased vouchers are being asked to email their contact details and attach their voucher to [email protected] so that the restaurant can respond in due course.
A spokesperson has said:
“We are so grateful for all of our customers and the support you’ve shown us.
“Once again, thank you for your support, and a very warm hug, from all the team at Crazy’s”.
No further details about the reasons behind the closure have been released.
It is understood the premises will soon be turned into ‘Spice Lounge’, an Indian restaurant and takeaway.

Sadly another one bites the dust.
A Casualty of labours dumb tax and spend policies
Very unusual for a Resturant to close unexpectedly and another to be announced immediately.
This feels like the Landlord had a better paying alternative lined up to take over the lease.
Such a shame – Genuinely brilliant resturant.
I wonder if it’s anything to do with the constant racist abuse the owner’s were getting from some ignorant people in our local community who kept accusing them of stealing British Jobs, despite the fact that the owner’s had residency in the UK and had lived in the UK for over 10 years!
It’s a real pity because Crazy’s was probably one of the best hidden gems of a restaurant on the Island ☹️☹️
