Pop’s Wood Nature Reserve is celebrating after being named Best Public Garden in the Bembridge in Bloom 2025 competition, with the team thanking supporters and encouraging others to get involved in their growing conservation work.
The community-led initiative has been working to create and protect nature reserves across the Isle of Wight, with a focus on safeguarding ancient woodland and reversing the decline in natural habitats.
The award recognises the work done at the Bembridge site, which has been transformed by volunteers, donations and community support. Organisers say the accolade is a sign of what can be achieved when people come together to support nature.
Phil Sard, the warden of Pop’s Wood, has said the group is now looking ahead to future projects – including the upcoming opening of the Yarmouth Reserve. The group continues to seek new volunteers and sponsors to help bring more reserves to life across the Isle of Wight.
Pop’s Wood has already played a key role in saving woodland at Love Lane and has received backing from the likes of ICRTouch, who recently made a cash donation.
