2 men are in custody and are being questioned by Police following last night’s crash on Forest Road in Newport.
As previously reported by Island Echo, emergency services were called at just before 22:25 when a Nissan Qashqai collided with a lamppost and railings, coming to a stop on its side.
A number of individuals were seen to run from the vehicle but it didn’t take long for Police to make arrests in the nearby area.
Hampshire Constabulary have now confirmed that a 27-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance, driving whilst disqualified, aggravated vehicle taking, failing to stop after a road accident and driving whilst unfit through drink.
A 29-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, theft, and failing to stop after a road accident.
Both men remain in custody at this time.
A 25-year-old man from Newport was also arrested on suspicion of driving motor vehicle when alcohol level above limit, but was later released with no further action.
Another lot of selfish and totally out if control people. They are well beyond teenage and nearly middle aged.
No hope if they have not got themselves sorted by now.

More wasted lives. I doubt they will make old age if they behave like this.
