A 54-year-old man has been arrested following a burglary at a family-run shoe shop in Newport in the early hours of this morning (Sunday).
At around 02:00, Police were alerted to a burglary at Bernards – an independent shoe shop – on St James’ Street in Newport. It is yet to be confirmed if anything was stolen from the shop.
Part of the front door was smashed to gain access. Broken glass can be seen both inside and outside the shop.
As part of their investigation, Police have arrested a 54-year-old man on suspicion of burglary.
A Police cordon around the commercial premises remains at this time whilst enquiries continue.
The arrested male remains in Police custody.
