UPDATED: Police on the Isle of Wight are this morning (Thursday) investigating an incident in Cowes, which saw Fountain Yard closed to traffic for a time overnight.
A cordon was erected at the entrance to the vehicular drop off for the hi-speed Red Jet service during the early hours, causing problems for taxis, buses and other vehicles.
The road closure has since been removed.
It currently remains unclear what sparked the restriction, as pedestrians and the Red Jet were unaffected by the cordon.
