The body of a man in his 40s was discovered in a flat on Pan Estate in Newport yesterday afternoon (Saturday), Police have confirmed.
As first reported by Island Echo, officers descended on the lower part of Furrlongs – opposite Pan Close – at around 15:00.
A cordon was swiftly established around the entrance to a residential property following the unexpected discovery of a body inside.
Initial on scene investigations were carried out with Police seen coming and going from the address over several hours.
Officers are thought to have seized at least 1 bladed article.
A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has said:
“Officers attended an address in Furrlongs, Newport, yesterday (March 15), where the body of a man in his 40s was found.
“His death is being treated as unexpected but not suspicious at this time.
“His family have been informed.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner”.
All cordons have now been removed.
