A main road in Wootton has closed this morning (Monday) as 6-week Southern Water upgrade works get underway.
Work on Station Road began this morning, with the road blocked to all traffic at the junction with Wootton Common Crossroads.
Around 200m of water main are being replaced, with it hoped that the repairs will be completed by 27th November.
Motorists are having to divert via Park Road and Lushington Hill to get to Wootton.
All Route 9 buses via Staplers will be operating via Medina during this time. Bus stops from Broadlands House to Gravel Pit Road can not be served during the closure.
One business affected by the closure, The Woodmans Arms, has taken to Facebook to stress to customers that they “remain open”. They said:
“We can not stress enough, we are very much open… and although it seems these road closure create a labyrinth, but just see it as “car orienteering” ….like you did at school, but just in a car .
“We’ll keep you all updated of when the second phase of these road closures happen.”
