5 members of the Hovertravel team have raised more than £1,000 for Mountbatten Isle of Wight after taking on a daring 100m abseil down Portsmouth’s iconic Spinnaker Tower.
Pilot Brendan, engineer James, terminal supervisors Gee and Poppy, and HR manager Terri swapped their usual working environments for harnesses and ropes on Sunday (6th September) to raise money for the Island charity.
The group descended the landmark tower overlooking Portsmouth Harbour and the Solent, enjoying a unique perspective of the coastline and even spotting Hovertravel’s hovercraft operating between Southsea and Ryde.
Their efforts have raised more than £1,000 for Mountbatten, which provides hospice, end-of-life and bereavement care to individuals and families across the Isle of Wight.
The money will help the charity continue delivering specialist care and support to Islanders during some of the most difficult times in their lives.
Hovertravel has praised Gee, Brendan, Poppy, Terri and James for taking on the challenge and helping to raise funds for a cause which makes a difference to the local community.
The company has also thanked everyone who donated, shared the fundraising appeal or encouraged the team throughout their efforts.
Those wishing to support the fundraising effort can still make a donation through the team’s JustGiving page.
