Police have cordoned off the entrance to a residential property on Pan Estate in Newport this afternoon (Saturday).
It is understood that officers arrived on scene at Furrlongs at around 15:00, swiftly establishing a crime scene cordon at the front of a maisonette.
Officers have been seen coming and going from the property and are thought to have seized at least 1 bladed article.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has been approached for a statement, but no update is expected on the circumstances of the incident until Sunday morning.
UPDATE SUNDAY – Police have confirmed that the body of a man in his 40s has been discovered.
