Police were in attendance at Blackgang following the sudden death of a man near a popular beauty spot yesterday evening (Monday).
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were mobilised to scene of the medical emergency near The Pepper Pot, alongside Police, at just before 18:00.
Emergency services arrived at the Viewpoint Car Park before heading up the hill to the casualty.
Sadly, despite the best efforts of medics and members of the public, the man’s life couldn’t be saved.
Coastguard Officers were drafted in to help Police recover the body from St Catherine’s Hill off Blackgang Road.
The death is not thought to be suspicious, but Hampshire Constabulary has been approached for a statement.
UPDATE – Police have confirmed that the body of a man in his 60s was found off Blackgang Road.
His next of kin have been informed and are being supported.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
