Police have been called to a 2-car crash on Avenue Road in Sandown this morning (Saturday) – the latest in a flurry of road traffic collisions.
The incident has occurred outside The Caulkheads pub near the junction with Carter Street and is understood to involve an Audi and a 2nd vehicle.
Emergency services were called shortly before 11:35.
It’s unclear if the icy conditions have had any part to play in the collision.
It has been a busy morning for the Island’s emergency teams with crashes at Wilton Park Road in Shanklin, Briddlesford Road near Wootton, Middle Road at Tapnell and Whitwell Road near Ventnor, as well as a lorry fire at York Avenue in East Cowes.
UPDATE – Island Echo understands a vehicle collided with the parked Audi, that had been ‘abandoned’ on the carriageway.
The Audi A3 has sustained significant damage as a result of the rear-end impact.
The scene has now been cleared.
