UPDATED: Police, ambulance and Coastguard teams are in attendance at Culver Cliff near Sandown this morning (Saturday), due to concerns for the welfare of an individual who is at the cliff edge.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team, Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team, Police and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are on scene near to the former Coastguard Cottages.
Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat is standing by off Culver.
A Police negotiator has been flown in by the National Police Air Service helicopter and is now starting discussions with the individual concerned.
Police say they were initially called at just before 09:00.
Culver Down remains open to walkers and motorists, however members of the public are asked to keep away from the southern side.
In a separate incident, emergency teams have attended Battery Gardens in Lake where a young woman was threatening to jump over the cliff edge earlier this morning. Thankfully, the person has been prevented from doing so and is now safe.
UPDATE @ 11:35 – A second negotiator has been flown in by helicopter to assist with the ongoing incident.
UPDATE @ 11:50 – The individual – a woman – has been successfully talked down and is now in the care of Police and mental health teams.
Emergency services are standing down from the incident.
