Concerns for an overdue vessel with 4 persons on board prompted a late night tasking for Needles Coastguard Rescue Team and Lymington RNLI yesterday (Friday).
Solent Coastguard requested the mobilisation of Coastguard Rescue Officers at 23:04 to conduct a search of Yarmouth Harbour and Newtown Creek.
It was reported that a vessel was overdue, prompting concerns for the safety of those onboard.
Lymington RNLI lifeboat joined the search and found the vessel in Newtown Creek.
Everyone on board was ok.
Search teams were stood down and returned to station at 01:20.
If you or someone else is in difficulty on the coast or at sea, or if you spot what you think may be unexploded ordnance, then dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Further safety information can be found at https://coastguardsafety.campaign.gov.uk/.

If they were overdue then assuming they told the coastguard of there plans. So to change and stay in Newtown without updating the coastguard was totally irresponsible. Just look at the amount of time effort and resources that wee put in just because thy could t be bothered to let someone know of there change of plans.
And another thing. I hope all 4 people were from the same house and i thought you were supposed to return home at night as part of the lockdown.
Dodgy mobile phone signal from Newtown i suspect.
Name and shame the vessel and the people onboard.
If you knew how to use the internet you’d know that information was in the public domain already.
GUS very true name and shame
Did this vessel not have AIS if so was it switched on so a position could be seen
Should be charged for the callout for failing to advise change of plans. Inconsiderate yachties.
Notice to Sailors, look at the way the Islanders comment before you take your earnings to the Wight.
May be dodgy on mobile phone, but 100% on channel 16 or 62 just a simple call would have been enough. Perhaps it was Captain Cummings.
You`ve just upgraded him! Do you think he deserves that?
under the current situation, anyone not taking extreme care to avoid having to call the emergency services needs to have a serious word with themselves. “Stay Home” says it all…
They should be back on their mooring as per government guidelines, you are NOT ALLOWED TO STAY ON YOUR BOAT OVERNIGHT must be your main residence. So all those boats at anchor etc overnight are breaking the rules and should be fined. What a waste of time and money of the emergency services. Also why didn’t they tell someone they weren’t coming back to their mooring. IDIOTS!!!!!
Pre emptive text don’t you just love it!!!
