Routine outpatient appointments at St Mary’s Hospital are being cancelled until at least next Friday (30th December), the Isle of Wight NHS Trust has confirmed.
Huge pressure on the Island’s only hospital continues with a Critical Incident still in force.
It’s said that although routine appointments have been cancelled, Cancer treatments and urgent operations will still go ahead, including breast screening.
Affected patients will either receive a phone call or a text which may come from a withheld number. Text reminders should be ignored if received for previously cancelled appointments.
Islanders are being told they can help by:
- Helping patients home once discharged from hospital and collecting friends and family whenever possible.
- Thinking about the most appropriate NHS service – only calling 999 in the event of a life-threatening illness or injury and visiting NHS 111 online, local pharmacists and GPs for heath advice.
